We love you Ukraine
There's an awful lot of misinformation around about this guy, a lot of it promoted by himself.
Just wanted to give some accuracy.
1/. Elon was born poor and is a self-made man
Elon's Dad owned an Emerald Mine in Zambia. Both Elon's Mum and he have adamantly said they had no money when he moved to the US to start college and that everything he's acquired has been through his own risks, but both his Dad and his college mates reject this. His Dad stated that he loaded Elon with Emeralds that paid for his fees at college, and even used to send Emeralds in the post for him to trade if he needed more cash. The fact that Elon was rewarding college friends with hundred thousand dollar presents that tended to have emeralds in them does back this up.
2/. Elon's made millions creating Paypal
Elon didn't create PayPal, he founded a company called x.com in 1999, this then merged with a company called Confinity (which was PayPal) which was helmed by Peter Thiel, and the merger was called Paypal. Musk sat on the board as CEO. Thiel and Musk had a spat and Thiel left shortly after the merger. Musk tried to change the name back to X.com and the board, spearheaded by Thiel and Max Levchin aggressively ousted Musk, he was in fact sacked after barely over a year in September 2000. BUT he was allowed to retain his stocks which he ended up selling for $175 Million when eBay bought Paypal in 2002.
3/. Elon founded SpaceX
This is true, he founded the company along with 2 aerospace engineers in 2002, Tom Mueller and Chris Thompson. Musk used around $100 million of the capital gained from the PayPal sale to eBay.
4/. Elon founded Tesla
Not true. It was founded by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning in 2003. The next year, Musk invested $6.5 Million in them and was invited onto the board, but Martin Eberhard was the operating CEO and Musk had very little involvement. Later in 2009, due to a lawsuit settlement, Eberhard stated from that Musk could be included as a founder legally, even though he wasn't, it was this time that the original founding members were ousted from the company also (otherwise known as a hostile take-over)
5/. Tesla cars are made in the USA
Just not true. There is a moniker "Made In the USA", but that doesn't mean it's made in the USA, normally that means it's been assembled there. On the first Roadster model, 40% of the parts were manufactured in China. Also, the roadster body work and chassis was predominantly assembled by Lotus in the UK with the chassis being made by a French company called Sotira
The Model S was really Tesla's first car and aligned with their IPO (Initial Public Offering) in 2009 when they built a prototype, but the actual car production was delayed until June 2012. These were assembled in the US for the US and Asian markets, and Holland for European with most of the electrical and computer components being manufactured in China.
Nowadays, about half of all Tesla production is done in China. Only a fraction of those units are actually sold in China, the rest are shipped to Canada, the US and other places like Australia and the European markets.
6/. Elon bought Twitter for $47 Billion
This is the hyper stinker. Elon doesn't have much money, especially up until very recently when he was awarded a big payout by Tesla. Up until then he only had stocks, no actual cash. Elon put forward $20 Billion towards the Twitter buyout which he gained from selling Tesla shares, several investors collated the rest, Peter Thiel being one of them. It was apparently Thiel that pushed Musk into making the purchase.
At the time, Twitter was only valued at around $9 Billion, so you've got to ask yourself why would any savvy investor be so willing to pay over 4 x the valuation of a company.
If you look at things in isolation, it all seems pretty bland, but when you see it all connected, it starts to paint a picture. Because of Musks continued trade with Russia while they’re sanctioned, relating to starlink, Musk faces significant consequences, one of which is that he may lose his security status with the US government in which case he’d have to sell SpaceX. Musk has repetitively disabled Ukrainian starkink satellites at key offensive stages to russias advantage.
Read up on Thiel, he and Musk are arm in arm in their daily dealings, you'll start to get a picture of what they're about.

Both Musk and Dorsey believed that Twitter would be better off as a privately held company, according to former Twitter executives. They also believe that the microblogging site should be viewed less as a profit machine and more as a public good.
