The Struggle Of Cool!

If anyone could help me with this it would be greatly appreciated!

So...I'm stuck on coolers. Air or water? Which one? I just want something that I am going to buy and then thats that.

I have been pondering the Titan from PCS, the Eclipse when it was here, the Noctua nh-d14 as I heard that thing is COOL!
On the watery front I am taken by the allinones about, the Coolit Eco ii C240 from PCS, the Corsair H100, the Antec Kuhler H20 920.

It has to cool the i7 3770k which will be OC'd a bit and it's going in a Storm Trooper case so space is not an issue.

I am just stuck, this is literally the last component I am deciding on before I buy. :(

I think if you want overclock, you are best getting it pre-overclocked, but then again, there are very few reasons to overclock, gaming doesnt need it, and most work doesnt need it

and its up to you on the cooler, they will all perform well, i think its up to you, of course there is a slightly higher risk of watercooling going wrong but these new CoolIT ones are very reliable and i havent seen anyone have any problems with it yet

personally id stick to air but some prefer watercooling

I'd go with the coolit II dual radiator which I believe is similar to the H100 corsair.

Titan is very good & you never hear it at all , as far as cool-it goes , read up on them online considerably before buying :)

Wht do you mean by that baron?

The Model II coolit's are fantastic! I've never heard of a single one leaking. As far as I know PCS have never had a report of one leaking either.

If you are referring to the Model I Coolits, yeah they were known to have problems, however, these have been discontinued no longer made by coolit, or sold by them.

I am happy with the coolit II fatboy and considering the coolit dualradiator as an upgrade. No problems and all and when OC to 4.8 it keeps my CPU at around 38'C and at around 65'C at full load. I would recommend the coolit, would be interested to see some benchmarks on the coolit II dual radiator though.

Did i say anything about leakage ? - no i did not , i simply said to read up on them online ( reviews /forums etc ) & thats good advice before buying anything & although i did not say anything at all , good or bad read the first post in this thread carefully.

http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?16229-new-pc-water-cooler-problem

In the spec i do believe the poster states in the spec that the one in question is the Eco 2 ALC & they have the grinding noise issue , now is there an Eco 3 i don't know about ? , if not we must be talking about the new ones yes ? & i have read 2 posts on this forum alone regarding this issue , so they are not in fact infallible at all ( nothing is )

But the fact remains i did not advise the poster to buy it or not to buy it - or to weather it was good or not good , i simply said read up on them before buying.

We all in here want to provide advice and help to any new potential customer, I don't think Tom or I intented to make your suggestion less valuable. If I did I apologize but the reply is a bit condescending.

It was the way you said,

read up on them online considerably before buying

"considerably" as if they are common to fail.

I just want to add, can you please refrain from speaking to myself in that way.

I was actually watching this anyway!! :) I recommended the very same video to someone on here the other day!

My heads turning off the idea of water, seems to be too many discrepancies between reviews where as the only problem with air coolers is that some are large and limit the size of heatsinks on RAM modules.

I think I also read that the air coolers are more likely to move during transit as opposed to the air coolers, tbh when I initially ordered mine it was because of that and no performance gain. However they do tend to be issues with the coolit II such as the noisy but haven't yet heard of anything more serious. I'd advice you to go with whatever makes you more comfortable at the end of the day you are the one buying it. I can say that if an issue arises with my coolit II PCS would be happy to replace it under warranty.

If you read my original post i did not give advice as to buy it , not buy it or as to weather they were good or not good -the only advice i gave was
"Read up online about them"

It was not me who mentioned anything about leakage ( or anything else for that matter ) & i was simply stating that i did not.

& i did not quote you at all did i ?

& i did not accuse anyone of making my suggestion less valuable.

& as for condescending , i find it condescending having words put in to my mouth - i did not say anything good or bad about anything at all .

Baron,

I think you need to take a little step back here, not everything that is stated, is directed directly at you.

All I said was, "what do you mean by that?" It was not posted in an aggressive or confrontational manner.

The next part of my post was not directed at yourself, more just providing information about the coolit's for the original poster, So you need not worry that I was directing that information at you.

Speaking to you in what way exactly ? - i didn't use any profanity , insults , slurs on character or threats in any way whatsoever

You in fact put words in to my mouth - im sorry if you don't like it if i correct you on this.

& as for me saying "considerably" , its a word & just for the record anyone who is buying anything AT ALL should read up on it considerably before buying , not just cool-it products.

& if you don't like to be "spoken to in this way!" then stop putting words in to my mouth , inspecting & analyzing every little detail of a completely innocent post.

I will follow the forum rules but i will not tippy toe around you just because you are a moderator m8 - you felt the need to swing in there & get all upset about a post where i didn't even give any advice at all other than to read up on something before buying it .
