The RGB Won’t Let Me Be.

It’s not a well known fact (🙃), but I do enjoy a bit of rainbow unicorn vomit when it comes to PCs. After owning a dull black tower for many years I’m loving having some RGB illuminating the innards of my system.

My Corsair iCue 220T case came with three SP120 RGB fans. It didn’t seem enough. So I also added the H100i RGB Platinum cooler to my order. Still not enough. Corsair RAM that comes with RGB? Yes please. But something was missing. I know... an ARGB light strip would be the cherry on top.

I enjoyed this for many a month but there was an itch I needed to scratch. More RGB was required and I had about fifty quid left on an Amazon gift card that I didn’t really know what to do with... so yesterday I ordered myself some treats. Two sticks of dummy RAM, there’s no memory in them, they’ve just got the LEDs. And another fan to add to the back of the case for some extra exhaust.

Now here was the part that concerned me. The case came with SP120 fans, the cooler with ML120 fans, and the extra fan that I ordered? An LL120. Three different types of Corsair RGB fan in a single system was a bit of an unknown quantity. I discussed it with @SpyderTracks months ago and we thought it could be catastrophic, it could bring about an extinction level event, it could cause the fabric of the universe to collapse in upon itself and fade into a delicate hanging cadence. We just didn’t know. But I had to try.

So with my trusty screwdriver, today I set about my system to see if I was about create my very own hadron collider...

Corrr, Corsair definitely isn’t going out of business with you around! This looks fantastic and I really never imagined you to be the RGB type. I’ve seen the dummy RAM before but have been told it’s stupid, I personally think it’s a great idea 😂

Lovely looking system and I’m very jealous!

P.S. I won’t enquire about what looks like a severed head on the inside of the PC in the first image

So all the fans worked fine off one controller? Or are they running off the board?

Looks great btw!

Soo....i'm guessing the RGB from the cooler fans is connected through the pump head connections, and the LL and SP fans are on the controller?

It makes god rays shine down from heaven, the pc performs faster and time becomes insignificant and irrelevant.

It's alright ;) I gots to have me insane amounts of RGB, it's essential.
It's also known that if you put your RGB lights on blue, your PC will be running at cooler temperatures, if you put the lights on red, your PC will be running at higher temperatures 😂

Close, but not quite true, consult the guide for further details 😉

Thanks!

The 3 SP120s run off the board headers and the lighting node core, I used a spare header and node slot to add the LL120. The ML120s on the H100i aren’t connected to it so it makes certain lighting patterns in iCue very difficult to get in sync. But it all works! 👍

You have defied corsairs own advice:

Perhaps they’ve updated the node firmware to allow it now.

You didn’t think me to be the RGB type?

I like Corsair stuff, it’s always of a consistent quality and I’ve never had a single thing of theirs go wrong on me. And I totally agree with you about the RAM. I wanted to complete the look but I didn’t need to spend a ton of cash on more memory. The dummy sticks only cost thirty quid, still a somewhat frivolous purchase but I am what I am 🙃

Its not a severed head, by the way. It’s a murdered girl wrapped in plastic. Every home should have one 👍

I’d read in the past that you shouldn’t mix fans (I assume Corsair think it’s the same as feeding a Mogwai after midnight) but it seems to be working a treat 🙂

If you want a SP140 that I bought in error when I was adding a bit more RGB to mine, and took the decision to rewire mine into a Commander Pro, then message me and I’ll send it to you.
Very kind of you, good sir! But my case has reached fan capacity, I fear it’d take off if I tried to squeeze another one in there.
