The return of the i7 Cosmos 17.3"

So the 17.3" Cosmos has returned with an i7 CPU and better still an IPS screen. This would do me just fine for showing my photo's to as good a standard as I can afford.

The withdrawal of the 17.3 earlier last month has forced my hand in ordering the 15.6" version with the more inferior screen.

The spec below is currently in the testing phase and will be ready for dispatch any day now.

I am just looking for a little advice if possible on the following

a) The 17.3" would have been my size of choice but in real world usage would an old duffer with dodgy 56 year old eyes really be able to see any noticeable difference in a 72% NTSC screen over a 45% version, and

b) Would I be taking the mickey cancelling my order for the exact same set up but in the larger size at this late stage (providing the answer to a) is yes)

All other items would remain as per the spec ordered.

PS I don't game and my budget could go as high as £1500 if required.

In your position I'd cancel the order and buy what I wanted. I.e. a laptop with a larger screen that is also a better screen for the uses I had for it.

What exactly are you using the PC for? Photo editing? What software?

Or just viewing an extensive photo library?

Processing raw images using Lightroom, nothing too heavy and largely working on one image at a time.

I'm not 100% convinced about the storage:

Why the 2 x 1TB SSDs?

There could be a benefit to a 2nd SSD if you're keeping your photo collection for viewing on it. But if that's all on the main SSD and the HDD is for documents like music and movies, stick to an HDD. if it is for photos you could get a M.2 SSD like the SX6000 under the M.2 menu as a 2nd M.2 drive.

For your uses, I'm not sure the i7 or the dGPU are necessarily worth the high price premium. Going down to the i5 and sticking to integrated graphics drops the price by £100 or so each.

To be honest, the spec posted was the original. I did amend it to do away with the 960GB Adata in favour of the SX6000 on the second M2 menu.

I have just been back in and tried to reconfigure as per your suggestion and the message came back stating that the i5 / internal gpu does not support 2nr M2.

I did originally add the Adata as I have not heard a good word said for the HDD's!
