I'm planning to buy an extreme gaming laptop in close future or a desktop for my university life.

Hi and welcome to the forums!

Desktops will be cheaper for the same specs as a laptop and you will have a lot more choice, but obviously it's a bit tricky to lug a desktop round with you if you want portability :).
So you will need to make your mind up as to which way you want to go.

As rakk said ... desktop > laptop as far as performance for your money goes
Though as its for uni i guess youll be wanting to take it to lectures and such so laptop makes sense

What is your budget and uses (gaming predominantly or more focused on video editing and power usage) and ill get you a quote for a pc and a laptop for that budget

Interesting :) I have decided to go with a Desktop instead , which means I will be able to use it for the latest games, video, picture editing etc. , it's also much cheaper :)
I have an old laptop which should easily handle the assignments. Although I had a problem with it :/ , I was updating my BIOS and it had an error , so now it's completely dead. I'm thinking maybe a new motherboard should get it working :)

Ahh ok would normally insist on having a look over just to double check but its up to you :)

Make sure youve got a 32Mb or a 64Mb cache HDD and the Silver Warranty
These are the most common improvements i suggest

Case : I appreciate that choosing a case is more than just the practicality of it (Youve got to be able to bear the sight of it ;)). Personally i would go for the CM 690 MK II Case for the same price as it is more practical.
CPU, CPU cooling, RAM, Motherboard : I think i can gues that your going to be overclocking this PC (Might i suggest getting PCS to overclock it for you as then it would be covered under the warranty)
If you really want to overclock yourself then have a look at this thread for clarity on the matter : Warranty When Overclocking
GPUs : My personal stance on this is that your always best off buying the best single GPU solution in the first place rather than buying two in SLI/ Crossfire
SO i would go for a Single GTX580 (Cuda cores will help your video editing softwares performance) Or if you insist on buying an ATI card then the 6970 or 6990
HDD : I would get either a 640GB WD caviar black or a 1TB WD caviar green. These drives, while a bit more expensive, will perform faster making your programs load quicker and your computer start up quicker.
PSU : Is good for your current spec but i would go for a 1000W just to be safe or, if you go for the GTX 580, so that you could put another in in SLI

Rest is good!
(You could save money by missing out the soundcard as onboard sound is pretty good at the moment though at the same time if you can afford it then go ahead :))

**From these two specs you can see that they actually dont charge any more money to overclock it for you so i would highly recommend gettting them to do it for you.

Anyhow :) I really love the suggestions and the advice you have provided me. It has really helped me to decide better.
I was on planning to over-clock the CPU , but I didn't know that PC Specialist can do so, thanks.

I didn't like the case I had chosen earlier, so instead of the sound card I will pick a better case :)

1000W PSU was a really good idea as I'm planning to add a second GTX 580 in late future.
I was also thinking to add SSD to boot my OS, but that will also be done in the future. I hope the MOB supports it though.

From your suggestions this is what I came up with, a bit over my budget but I should be able to handle it :)
