Should it be like this? And next question if I open it up to reseat the heatsink and use heatsink paste etc do I void any warranty I have with the device? It has 3 Year Standard Warranty (1 Month Collect & Return, 1 Year Parts, 3 Year Labour)

Do you think it might just need opening up and cleaning?

Thanks

January 2015 is not really 'new' anymore I wouldn't say. But yes, a repaste would help and is not going to hurt at any rate... the CPU looks more in need than the GPU.

Have you cleaned the dust and muck out of it recently? Laptops are notorious for overheating if they are not regularly cleaned. You should open it up and using a can of low pressure compressed air (made for cleaning computers) and a soft brush, remove all dust and fluff you can find. Pay particular attention to the fan blades and the fined radiator close to the fan. This is the heat exchanger and a good airflow through there is absolutely essential for proper cooling, it's also very easily blocked with dust and fluff.
