Dear All

I want to get back into PC games after a long absence. I'll be an occasional gamer, not an enthusiast but still I would like to be able to play the latest games at a good graphics level and speed.

My key things I want are

Silence (Hence the expensive case)
Quick Start Up (Hence the SSD)
Large second drive capacity

I've deliberately gone for a CPU without on board graphics as have added a proper graphics card (I assume this saves a few quid and is the right thing to do)

Any comments from experts would be much appreciated, here is my spec :)

AMD Athlon X4 880K Quad Core CPU (4.0GHz/FM2+)
This CPU is very weak. To give you some idea, here it is compared to an Intel i5: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1707?vs=1646

You're absolutely right that CPUs with above average onboard graphics such as AMD's APUs are best avoided when pairing with a decent dedicated GPU, because obviously if part of the cost of what you spend is going on something you won't be using, that's a waste of money. However, many CPUs these days have some level of onboard graphics as standard. The best gaming CPUs are Intel ones - despite the fact they have Intel HD graphics.

2nd Hard Disk
5TB SATA-III 3.5" HDD, 6GB/s, 7200RPM, 128MB CACHE
If you want that much storage you should probably be giving some though to a NAS / Network Attached Storage.

Leaving that to one side, here's an alternative spec:

Many thanks Oussebon - that's exactly the sort of help I needed. I shall certainly go for the Intel Processor as you suggest.

I shall look into a NAS drive. I already have a MyBook 2TB drive which gives me ample Network Storage for stuff I want to share around the home - I was under the impression though that if your data does not need to be shared around a network then an internal hard drive would always be the fastest option and cheapest option ? I'm going to be using it to store Hi-Def movies (4k) and my experience with the MyBook leads me to believe that speed / transfer rates don't compare to internal ?
