Suitable upgrade??

Hi - my plan is to sell my current 5 year old PC and put the money towards a new PC Specialist build, using the pay within 12 months scheme. Just want some advice if this is a good build for compatibility and future proofing etc, any pros or cons will help! I think it's a better option for me than trying to upgrade a huge amount of components on my current PC, and I don't want to build a PC myself. My current PC spec is i5-6600k @ 3.9GHz, 16gb DDR4 RAM @ 3200MHz, Gigabyte GTX 970 4GB, 1 TB HDD (no SSD) on an ASUS Z170-E Motherboard. The proposed new build is as follows:

what monitor are you pairing it with, what resolution and refresh rate or make and model if you’re unsure?

I havent looked into AMD much at all, whats an equivalent AMD processor and why is it better? Max is probably around £1500, where it is now, and my monitor at the minute is a 1080p acer monitor @ 144hz. Also use Oculus Rift S. Maybe upgrading to a 2k monitor sometime in future, the only strenuous use will be gaming in either 1080p/2k. Thanks for the reply!

The 3600 is the sweet spot for gaming.

TBH any modern system at that budget is going to be bottlenecked by the monitor.

What I’d suggest is planning on packing as much into the core build but fitting with a 1080p GPU for now. Then when you come to getting a 1440p 144hz monitor you can upgrade the monitor at that time as newer cards will be out that will be cheaper and more powerful.

Just noticed you’re using the rift s, that will need some extra GPU horsepower so makes the issue redundant.
