What monitor are you pairing it with, what make and model?

Does it happen on local games as well as online games? ie, is it an issue with your internet feed rather than fps performance?

You can run a local game benchmark like Heaven to test this

Seems to be
You need to rule out if it's an internet connectivity issue or an FPS issue as they're 2 very different things.

I don't know how to have you validate this, only you can determine if performance is ok for local gaming

You can try another benchmark like Firestrike

My guess is that it's network related. I'd look at your optional updates to see if any outstanding.

Ah, just noticed your specs say it's a GTX1080 but the benchmark shows it as an RTX 2070. That PSU is not gonna be enough, I'm very surprised you're not seeing cut outs as well as poor performance.

Also, which drive is the game loaded on? if it's on the SSHD, major no no, put it on the SSD (I'm sure that's already the case)

Is getting a new psu as simple as just swapping 1 for another
Unfortunately not, you wouldn't want a VS model for the increased wattage, they're really a budget range. You'd want at least an RMx or RMe model.

PSU cables are dependent on model so you'd need to swap those out as well.

Any links to any decent ones and guessing that a new power supply will help alot
As above, RMx or RMe model, you can order through your PCS upgrades section

There may still be issues after swapping it out, but you're not on a reliable platform at the moment to be able to rule out the PSU as a contributor.

I'm not convinced PSU is the definite cause of FPS here. I'd agree 550W is on the edge, but jumping to 1000W is overkill and unlikely to fix the FPS issue.

Empxthy, are you able to run an overlay while gaming to see what utilisation % the GPU and CPU is reporting? Something like Afterburner/Riva? That might help show if the FPS drop is due to a GPU or CPU bottleneck, thermal throttling etc. WE need more data basically.

IF no overlay, try running HWInfo in sensor mode while playing your game and we can check min, avg and max values of key parameters.

As I said, it's not to fix the FPS issue, but you can't troubleshoot on a problematic platform. Basic hardware troubleshooting, everything has to be in spec before you can continue otherwise you have unknown factors that can't be controlled.

The min PSU for the RTX 2070 Founders Edition is 550W. This is an aftermarket card which means almost certainly higher power draw than Founder Edition, plus likely higher clocks.

Asus reckoned 550W for the RTX 2060.

Remember, you can't factor nVidia measurements for aftermarket cards as they're entirely different in power terms often by a large margin.

And as always, the 1000W PSU has nothing to do with the RTX 2070, it's what they may get next. If you're factoring almost anything of the current build aside from the GPU into your buying decisions, you're doing it wrong, hence why this poor soul is having to upgrade their PSU mid lifetime.
