Streaming PC Build - thoughts?

Good evening/morning!
I've ordered the below to use as a dedicated streaming/recording PC.
I have a capture card already, so that will slot in no worries...
Is this overkill? Or will it do well as a streaming PC (that could maybe be a main PC when my current rig starts to show signs of aging, then to become the streaming PC)?

I'd say you want to go the other way around...have this one as your main/gaming PC and the older one as your streaming/recording PC. Streaming and recording doesn't need much whereas you want your gaming PC to be as up to date as possible. Assuming it's gaming you will be streaming and not something else of course

What is the maximum budget for this system?
Assuming you use it as your main system, what monitor is going with it? Just to be sure the GPU is the best choice.
This is my current build - just with a 4090 inside now.

Ah, a 4090 trumps the Intel even though it's newer. I'd question whether you need a second system unless it's causing you issues...streaming uses up very little GPU power (I did a test the other day and it only adds around 10% workload to the GPU).

If you really want to get a second system, then you could transfer the 4090 from your old system to the new one as it is a better GPU than the Intel. Either way, for a second system, you are over-spending in quite a few areas...RAM and GPU particularly; there's not much point getting the x3D chip unless you are going to use it for gaming; Samsung drives ar egenerally best avoided due to recent (couple of years ago) issues with them and there are still question marks over longer term reliability (plus you pay a premium for the Samsung name)
Could you recommend alternatives for the parts you mentioned? I could always use any funds saved to get a nicer case.

No issues, really, nope. I've just got my mind set on a dedicated PC for streaming and capturing. I'll still use my main PC to game generally, video and photo edit.

Purely for streaming you can drop the specs way down. Below is still overkill for your uses. In your shoes I would tend to use your current PC for streaming, with the GPU switched, and opt for a new gaming/editing build. Going down that route would be win win.

Thank you for both of these, Scott. Lots to think about!

Would my current CPU be able to handle streaming at 1080/60 just fine then?

Genuinely a lot to think about now!

A streaming PC doesn't need to be very strong as it it needs is to be able to encode the videos. As I said prior, streaming adds about 10% workload to the GPU or CPU (depending whether you use hardware or software encoding) at most. I used to use a capture card to send the gameplay from my Xbox to my PC for broadcast to YT and Twitch and my system was a Ryzen 5 3600 and 2060 Super GPU and it barely even noticed.

In you case, if you just put in a basic GPU purely for the monitor's display (your CPU doesn't have an iGPU in the CPU so you have to have a discrete GPU), then you may need to switch to software encoding but your CPU is more than strong enough to handle that. I have known people to have a 3900x (one gen behind yours and one step down) and game and stream on the same system without any issues
This is great to know.

Apologise for missing your part about 10% gpu usage... early AM reading!

As has been highlighted, just reiterating, the above build I've suggested with the 4090 would handle all gaming AND streaming without breaking much sweat. There really is no need for a dedicated streaming machine but it's definitely the lesser of 2 evils to go with the old system for streaming if that's really what you want to do.

Yep...I have the 7800x3D and a 4090 and can game in 4k and stream at the same time without any issues...I even manage to be above the bitrate Twitch recommends. This is games like Starfield, Call of Duty, Forza and the like
Going to give PCS a call shortly, see what I can sort out!

I would strongly suggest making some changes. I don't agree with most of that advice to be honest. You can do it yourself though, you don't need to call up.

You want the 9950X3D, not the 9900X3D (it's got less performance than both other options due to only having 6 cores per CCD)
If you're opting for 64GB of RAM (It's not necessary IMO) then try and get 6000Mhz, I believe it's available now. It'll make a big difference in all aspects.
You've changed the primary drive to a slow drive. I would opt for the P44 to get the top speeds. The High end 1TB Corsair is also excellent.
The second drive is still Samsung. I would switch this out for the lower end 2TB Corsair offering, it's far better.
I would opt for a 360mm AIO if possible, the 240 isn't really enough and you're wasting money on the LED aspect.
The additional paste should be avoided, it's less performance than the stock Corsair stuff.
I would ditch the additional fans if opting for the recommended case. 4000D RS was a fine choice
Remove Norton, it's a nightmare.

Keep in mind that advisors are sales. I'm sure the info presented was accurate but it doesn't mean you're getting the best value or option. If the suggestion was the 9900X3D from the advisor for your uses I would question the logic.

I think part of the advisor issue was that neither the 9800X3D to 9950X3D are in stock...so if the customer must have it now, then there are limited choices.
The case isn't in until the start of April, so the build won't start until then.

Just caught up on the new messages, more to think about!

Looks like I'll be handing out a few humble choices keys as a thank you!

@Scott

I've made the following changes:

CPU
CPU cooler
RAM
SSD(s)
Paste

Kept the case and extra fans.

Norton wasn't selected on the order list, thank goodness.

The 9950 is on pre-order, so it delays things... but I'm not in any major rush. Also, saved £2!

Thank you.
