SSDs

Does anyone have any experience of the SanDisk Plus SSD, a friend wants to try an SSD but is strapped for cash and was wondering about this: http://www.ebuyer.com/712133-sandisk-plus-240gb-sataiii-2-5inch-ssd-sdssda-240g-g25

Being a natural pessimist I always assume things are cheap for a reason and as this is cheaper than the Kingston V300 I am suspicious. At the moment he is holding out and possibly saving for a Samsung, Hyper x or something like that. Any feedback appreciated.

PS: Mods, not sure if the link is OK or not, apologies if you have to zap it.

That is a superb price for a superb drive!!

sure is, I paid more than that for a 120GB at the turn of the year.

I looked at the sandisk option and that drive is certainly getting on a bit, it was cheap when I was looking into SSD's about a year ago and doesn't appear to have been changed any in that time. personally I wouldn't advise it. the Samsung is a better drive by miles and its current generation which is always a bonus.

If you really need to save cash then almost any SSD is better than a HDD in terms of speed, which is what I assume he wants it for.

Correct but for only a few quid more I think anyone would be crazy not to go for the Samsung.
