Ssd or disc tray?

I'm not sure whether to get a kingston hyperx savage ssd with my Optimus VI 17", by using the second hard drive option and getting rid of the disc tray, or getting a crucial m.2 ssd in the m.2 ssd option and keeping the disc tray. The savage isn't much better than the crucial, but does getting an m.2 ssd or second hard drive make a noticeable difference in performance, convenience, laptop weight, ect. Thanks.

With an SSD fitted, the caddy weighs about as much as the disc tray would, but the mSATA/M.2 SSD doesn't weigh much as it's caseless, so there wouldn't be much in it either way. Performance-wise, there's not a huge difference between same-size SATA3 SSDs. There is a notable performance jump from 120GB to 250GB, and a less noticeable jump from 250GB to 500GB, though.

Thanks, I'll probably go for a 250gb m.2 ssd
