Splitting audio output

The issue I have is that I have a smart Sony TV HDMI attached to my PC, and a set of external speakers attached to the PC.

I use VLC for playing movies on the TV from the PC and VLC allows me to set the Sony TV as it's default audio device so that the movie sound comes through the TV speakers.

I also use a (legal) service for streaming UK TV to the Sony TV via a web browser (Firefox) on the PC. Firefox doesn't allow me to set it's default audio device so the sound comes out of the external speakers and not the TV. Now, I can go into audio options each time and change the default device to be the TV, but then I have to remember to change it back to the PCs sound card afterwards. This manual swapping of the default audio device is a pain.

I have found a tool called CheVolume (http://www.chevolume.com/) that does allow me to define the default audio device by application so I can set Firefox to use the Sony TV, and this works very well indeed. I currently have CheVolume on a 7-day free trial and the license cost is only $19.99 (US Dollars) which is about £15 and that's not too expensive so barring any other solutions I'll license it.

My question is; does anyone know of another (ideally free) solution to the problem of setting a different audio output device for each application?

Here you go - a free one. Haven't tried it but looks like it's simple enough

https://github.com/audiorouterdev/audio-router

Scroll down a bit to see the download links for x64 and x86

Edit: There's apparently a add-in specifically for FF: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/chaudev/

Thanks Tony1044! Audio Router does the job, though it's not very pretty (but who cares). The FF extension says it won't install on FF versions after 43 sadly. That saved me 15 quid then, I owe you a beer or three when you're next on Crete.... :)
