Sound Proofing?

Hey guys how you all doing today? quick question for you, is there any true way of sound proofing a room - I know I can buy foam and all that sort of stuff but I honestly doubt it will truly sound proof it. Just wondering if anyone has thought about doing this or had done it and been successful? I have heard myths of thick curtains and egg boxes, but I want something more practical for a bedroom.

I'd imagine it depends on whether you want the walls to reflect sound or absorb sound (I could be making stuff up here but I suspect its true). I know there are quiet rooms which once you step in you really cant hear anything (simulate the vacuum of space and what not) but I suspect you just want to isolate one room?

Thick carpet contributes to sound reduction, but other than that to truly sound proof a room it costs a lot of money.

Things like curtains certainly do help, sound bounces off of solid walls much easier than things like curtains that muffle noise. I doubt you'll be able to fully sound-proof the room without having to splash out quite a bit. Heavy thick doors with padding on the bedrooms side would help, but can also be expensive.

Best bet? Go to an Asylum for patients with low mental health and use a padded cell!

Ah thanks for the links yes I want to isolate the sound so it wont spread from room to room instead of making the sound clearer - and I always thought egg boxes were a joke and looked stupid maybe im wrong
