Hi,
I am seriously considering buying an 11.6" inferno to replace my Alienware M11X. I sent a few pre-sales enquiries to the email address but thought I might benefit from posting them here as well
My m11x r3 whilst being a great machine, has a couple of minor issues with it which I am hoping are not the case with the inferno.
1) Booting USB 3.0 devices from USB 3.0 ports? My M11X is capable of booting from USB 2.0 devices in any port of it's 3 ports, but does not like booting from USB 3.0 devices (on the occasions where it does work, it only boots in legacy 2.0 support mode? Does this work with the Inferno?
2) USB charging. Does the inferno have an option to allow one or more of the ports to be used for charging USB devices when the laptop is switched off? The M11x has this and it's a great feature.
3) 2nd Mini-PCI express slot cannot be used for bootable SSD in the M11X.
- Does the inferno have 1 or 2 MiniPCIe slots?
- If two, is one of them free?
- If I get a MiniPCIe SSD drive, will the BIOS allow me to use this as the boot device? (i.e. 256GB SSD for boot, and large SATA for storage?)
4) TIM. When I got my M11X it was prone to overheating. This was because of very badly applied TIM on the heatsink for the CPU and GPU.
- If I opt for the higher grade TIM in the build configurator, will this be applied to a high standard as part of the build?
5) Battery life. The M11X battery life is superb. With the spec I have chosen (detailed below), can anyone advise how much battery life I might expect for normal usage / gaming usage?
6) If I opt for the two battery option, and the two AC 120W AC adaptor option - is there any way I can use the second AC adaptor to charge the spare battery?
Many thanks
Dan
