I dont have a monitor yet (i do have one but think i will need to upgrade but its an aoc 27inch 240hz fhd) so happy to get recomendations. Im primariky looking at gaming...my needs are to play at as high settings as possible at a decent fps but my son wants to play with as high fps as possible. He already has a 4070 which is a few years old so im looking for an upgrade on that and i was put off the 4090 and 4080 as from forums they seem they are being replaced soon. In terms of budget i can go upto £3k but only if it makes a big difference on performance, in the same vein if there is a ln option which is slightly less performance but has is significantly cheaper then i will look at that. I also wanted to know if any of the co.ponents created bottlenecks or just dont work with the rest of the build or are there components where a cheaper one will work just as well. Thanks

Here's what I'd go for a top tier 1440p gaming PC.

If you merely need fps, you can go with a 7900XT (and save £150); however, if NVIDIA technologies (DLSS, RT, and FG) are important, stick with the 4070ti SUPER.

As a monitor, I suggest this AOC, which is reasonably priced and falls within your budget.

Thanks. What does the 5000x give above the 4000d? Would dropping the cpu to the 7800x3d make a big difference or is it a no brainer to go for the 9800? Is the image quality much better with nvidia and if so is it worth to go for the 4080 super?

The 5000X is larger and is equipped with three fans.

It depends on whether you will require NVIDIA technologies. The 4080 Super, in my opinion, is not worth the money right now; we're just two months away from the next generation GPUs. A 5070 will most likely outperform the 4080 at a far cheaper cost.
