Hi all.

I have just purchased a new system with a single 1GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 560 Ti. I will be upgrading shortly by adding another card to run in SLI, but can i purchase any card as long as it is the same model for example would the Asus GeForce GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1024MB GDDR5 be compatible?

Thx, Simon.

Hey Simon,
you need to have two identical cards, so if you have one Asus GTX560Ti you would have to get another Asus GTX560Ti so have a quick peek at your GPU (the bottom of it) and to find out the manufacturer and then you'll have to get another one of those. :)

I think...

It has to be the same model, but doesn't need to be the same brand/manufacturer.

as vanthus says it doesnt hjave to be the same manufacturer, it has to be the same card though, ie. same memory and clock speed.

Another question along the same line as before, could anyone recommend what model of GTX 560 TI 1024Mb to get to Sli with my current one?

Thx.

You can actually run different clockspeeds, the primary card will will overclock the secondary (at least it used to with my 8800's) or underclock if you put the slower card in teh primary slot.

I take it you mean what brand(manufacturer) of GTX 560 TI 1024Mb,
Personally I would go for the best deal.

I see, and yes i do mean which brand. Was just wondering as there is a range of prices for the same model, and some have duel fans and other bits and bobs.

They are all pretty much the same with some slightly overclocked by a tiny amount compared to others. the palit is a good model which has 2 fans. expensive brands i think most are the EVGA, ASUS, MSI and Gainward i think. at times Palit can be pretty expensive themselfs.

any brand can do, so long they have the same gpu core, you will be fine.
