I can't decide, I will initially be running two monitors but in the near future a third will be in my setup, will SLi 690 bottleneck?

Or should I go for the single 690?

Does that not depend on the rest of your system? I think it might be worth considering 4gb 680s in sli if you are looking for 3d multi-monitor gaming. Although I have not noticed any issues (I am only using one monitor currently though)

SLI GTX 690 sounds nice, presented with the choice - I would pull it. : D

There should be no bottlenecks even with current generation Intel processors, refer to - http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/graphics/41581-nvidia-geforce-gtx-690-sli-surround/

At 3DMark 11 performance setting, which runs at a lower resolution and quality, the SLI 690 scale to 34%, meaning the CPU is the bottleneck here. Extreme setting brings the difference between one GPU and a SLI config to 74%.

Another review - http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/graphics/display/geforce-gtx-690-sli.html You can see CPU-limited games with lots of AI form a distance in the charts.

An i7-3770K at 4.5 GHz would probably show a consistent SLI scaling of 50-80% in all games.

I was going to get a i7-3930k OC to 4.6GHz to accompany them, still thinking of whether to SLi or not, some people notice big improvements while some only notice small improvements, I will EVENTUALLY be using a 3 monitor setup, as of now it will be a 2 monitor setup.
