Where else can you get such quality at such a competitive price? Always wanted a decent gaming laptop and I have to say that I couldn't be happier with my build. Thanks so much pcspecialist, and thank you to customer support and the workshop team, every query was dealt with very quickly and comprehensively. Will definitely be buying from them again in future. 5 stars!
The laptop itself is a beast! 15 inch, Core i7 4710mq @2.5 Ghz (max 3.5ghz), gtx870m @3Gb, 8Gb RAM, 250Gb samsung evo SSD. The i7 opperates at full load along with the gtx 870m at a steady 65 degrees.
Been playing for hours without slow down. It kicks out heat very efficiently so I made a makeshift shelf for the back of the laptop, using the packaging it came with, so I can use it on my lap. The heaviest load so far has been with Total War: Rome II. It runs it at ultra settings and full 1080 res without a hitch.
Wasn't 100% convinced about ssd c.f. hdd so did some research and found the samsung tops a lot of polls and is pretty cheap. So glad I did! It boots up from cold in 16 seconds (I timed it and that includes the time it takes for me to type in my overly complex password), and shuts down in 1.8s. After using my old xps 17 for 4 years I'm still getting used to not having to turn it on and get myself comfortable whilst gathering gamepad, setting down a cuppa, turning on the tv etc as I'd be waiting about 3 minutes. Now I do all that first as the laptop is ready to go whilst I'm still faffing around! I love this machine!
