The shorts answer: YES
Especially if you are planning to buy an Octane III or Vortex VI.
The reason behind this is that for these laptops if you plan to go with an 1080p G-Sync panel PCS will use a LP173WF4-SPF1 and by my experience there seems to be an issue with the current LP173WF4-SPF1 stock which PCS is using.
I had the "chance" to try out 4 LP173WF4-SPF1 panels from the PCS stock and my experience was this:
- 1 panel had 2 stuck pixels in the middle
- 1 panel had 1 stuck pixel in the middle
- 1 panel had 1 dead pixel on the side
That is 3 screens with bad pixels out of 4. That is 75%.
Waiting for the 5th LP173WF4-SPF1 now.
Also heard from a new Octane III user that the screen on his laptop had 2 stuck pixels out of the box.
So if you plan to go with 1080p screen, be sure to get dead pixel warranty because as you see a high amount of the LP173WF4-SPF1 screen stock used by PCS has stuck or dead pixels.
PCS also has LP173WF4-SPD1 screens but their stock seems to be outdated and has outdated EDID meaning that the driver does not recognize it as G-Sync compatyble so it will not factory clock to 75 Hz (from 60 Hz) and G-Sync option will not appear in the NVidia Control Panel. I have tried updating the EDID of a LP173WF4-SPD1 screen which came from the PCS warehouse, but the EEPROM was locked so flashing was not possible.
tl;dr: Get dead pixel warranty!
