Had my old pc about 7 years and IV loved her to bits, served me faithfully, (specs: Intel I3 duel core (2.4 GHz), 2GB Ram, GeForce 8600GS graphics) but the old girl was getting slow in her golden age and no amount of disk clean or fragging was helping, so I decided it was time for a new mistress, one who would please me for years to come lo and Behold:

A spec built with advice from members on this forum, so shout out guys:punk:

I was worried that like my first girlfriend she would take ages or worse never come ;) but after a few patient weeks of constantly asking, is she here yet? And stalking her activities daily on the statues guide she finally arrived.

I was at work however so she was taken in by a neighbour (despite warning labels that this package should only be delivered to address not given to anyone else) Not a big issue but didn't actually tell me until 10pm doh  so alas I only had the foreplay of opening the box and taking a sneaky peak at her contents before crawling into bed, saving the excitement for the next day.

I have to say the contents scared me a little (I will attach pics later) but I did see bags of screws, nuts and bolts, thing-a-ma-bobs, plastic component, internal leads / wires and extra thingies that I don’t have a clue about. I’m hoping I won’t have to play around too much with her internal organs as I don’t know the first thing about tinkering with the heart and lungs of a pc.:stupid: The packaging was however immaculate, so well done to James Russell . You can do my xmas wrapping this year. all very secure and tight.

I’ll go home set her up and give a review later on how she performs or any issues (hopefully not )

First impressions ohhh its massive….. (that’s what she said) :shifty:

The case was much larger than I had thought , so I’ve had to rethink my set up with a small working space, the tower is having to stay behind the monitor out of view. Also to jump from 15in monitor to a 24in widescreen feels like I now need popcorn when working on excel. :tt2:

The setup was actually very easy. My earlier worries of the nuts and bolts where unfounded as it became clear these where the extra bits from it being assembled. Only the foam bag inside needed to be removed which was easy. And ohhhh shes powerful everything’s been running’s super quick. Power up takes about 10-15seconds.

It’s not been without a few teething problems however. I had to play around with the sound for ages as it was only coming though on my TV (double monitor set up) and not though my speakers, it wasn’t a simple restart either. Got it fixed by uninstalling and reinstalling the motherboard driver after a lot of faffing about.

Also I’ve not been able to play any games yet. :surrender:The first one I installed is failing to load with a message cannot locate the DVD-ROM / Please insert correct DVD-ROM and restart aplication error. Even after a full install and reinstall of both the game and CD ROM DRIVER plus running in compatibility mode. it’s only an old RTS game (Battle for middle earth, 2006) but any help to solve this would be appreciated wasted hours and always get that message (happens with the original game disk and also the expansion disk both genuine copies. I don’t know what it could be.) :surrender:currently downloading other games I’ll see if they work later.

Noice review.

For the DVD issue, have you tried removing the DVDRW from device manager and rebooting? It can be an easy fix.

Tried that a few times no joy unfortunately . the cd drive does work as I can install from it. but I get an error message when I try to play the game from it.

should say iv also updated all drivers to the latest and the games using latest patch notes etc.

Godlike
I had issues with BFME, although a good game it had it's issues.
It can be fixed a number of ways, getting a no CD crack or creating and image of it and using a virtual drive. It may seem odd but see if there is a patch online and then try and run it.

The game worked on my old pc a few weeks back. I don't know what cranking or virtual drive is but assume that's a type of emulator. if I have to do that so be it :whistling: but I would like to find a legit solution first before downloading 3rd party software to play my legit game. My new PC should be ripping it a new one not crashing on it  will find out if its only with this game or if it happens with all of them. will test tonight

cheers for advice
