Selecting SSD as boot drive

Hello

I've been having a bit of a struggle lately, I've been trying to get my SSD to be my Win 10 boot drive and install all the other programs onto the HDD.
The problem that I've encountered now is that for example programs like skype automatically install onto the SSD without asking about a installation location, is there any way to change the default installation location in Win 10?

On most programs you just select a custom install, but Skype is now embedded into windows so you can't specify where to install it.

Hmm thats not good, Im thinking of going back to Win7 as I dont see any advantage in using Win 10, it only has more restrictions in my opinion

Do you use any programs that will only run on Windows, another option would be to consider a Linux distro, some, eg Zorin, and designed for migrating Windows users. There are quite a few to choose from: http://distrowatch.com/

It also has the advantage of knocking 80-90 quid off the price of your next build.

Well I definitely need Windows because im mainly a gamer, so it would be a disadvantage to use linux, has anybody got experience in installing Win 7 onto a pc from pcspecialist? Im asking because they have their Win 10 Product key already inserted and I dont want to mess up this new system

You're going to change to Windows 7 because you don't want Skype installed on your ssd? Have you got ANY other bits of software that you're getting no choice over? This sounds crazy.

There's nothing that takes advantage of DX12 yet as far as I know, but there will be. Skype on the system drive is a price I would gladly pay for DX12.

Its not just skype being installed automatically onto the wrong drive, but also programs like kaspersky, they all dont have an option to select the installation path and because I have a limited 250 gb SSD which I planned to use partly for Win10 and then the rest of it for flightsim which takes big amounts of space.
