SATA SSD not recognised in BIOS/Windows

Hi all,

Recently purchased an Elimina 15.6" with only one SSD, wanting to slot my existing SSD (Western Digital WDS500G2B0B SSD M.2 SATA) into the second socket.
Problem: the SDD isn't detected in the BIOS.
I've tried swapping sockets - new SSD is still detected when slotted into the PCI 4.0 slot - but my older SSD still isn't.
I can't find details on the MOBO either online or in the docs included with the delivery, but I'm suspecting my older SSD might not compatible because it is a SATA SSD with B & M keys, whereas the sockets on the MOBO only have an M key, and the supplied SSD is NVMe.
Has anyone experienced this before and could confirm my older SSD needs replacing?

Cheers
Robin

M2 SATA is a very old format that's not supported in modern systems, modern systems are NVME, not SATA

M2 SATA runs off the SATA lanes, maxes out at 550mbs r/w

M2 NVME runs off PCIe lanes maxes out at 12000mbs r/w

2 completely different types of drive.

You may be able to enable SATA support via the BIOS but I genuinely wouldn't know. You could contact PCS directly to see if they have any quick guides or spec notes. I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't compatible but it's worth checking out with them in case they have the info readily available.
