Ryzen laptops

I see that Clevo now have Ryzen laptops at long last on the clevo.com website . Unfortunately most if not all of the seem to have nvidia graphics, but perhaps that will change as further models are designed.

When will PCSpecialist be offering Ryzen laptops, presumably from this range? Of course, I realise that won't be until the Covid-19 crisis has passed.

I dont' think it's covid preventing release, there haven't been any particular hold ups with new tech. You'd need to ask PCS though, we can only speculate.

I have just seen the Nova! I should have checked first. This might be the same thing.
It's not a laptop, it's a DTR (desktop replacement) so has desktop CPU's.

It's extremely powerful, but not portable (thick and heavy) and really poor battery life. It's not designed to be mobile, it's an alternative to a desktop designed to be pretty much in one place.

But it's still awesome and would be my go to. paired with a 3600 and a 2070 and you've got a serious gaming powerhouse!

It's basically the AMD equivalent of the Octane

Hey!

I got recently the Nova, and is really a good machine!
However, keep in mind that I don't usually take it off my house.

I bought a laptop instead of a desktop, because I'm working abroad, and it's much easier to carry it to another country and to whenever I move to another house.

This laptop is really powerful, but it's not good to carry it to school/any other place, the battery life is awful, and it's heavy.

How are the thermals on it?

The thermals on idle are awful, they can get to 71 degress. But while playing they are really good. I play mostly League of Legends, CS:GO (games that are not too demanding) and The witcher 3 and CoD:Warzone (these ones are much more demanding). The temperatures while playing on the less demanding games are about 62 degress, and on the other ones is about 72.

Keep in mind, this is a thick laptop, it is made like this to handle desktop's CPU and top-end graphic cards.

The thermals are really good, but the fans make a lot of noise!!!

You can put it on «saver» but it will make you lose a lot of fps, it's still 100% playable in high settings on the less demanding games, but you will need to reduce a little bit the graphics to play like that on games that are more demanding.

Interesting, thank you. If they made a nova 17" I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

If the temps at idle are 71 then there’s something wrong and it needs addressing.

What are you using to read temps?

It idles at 71 but when you load up a game it drops to 62? Impressive that you've discovered a chip that when doing some work actively cools itself down!!!

Yes, while playing cs:go and league of legends the temperature goes down. «Impressive that you've discovered a chip that when doing some work actively cools itself down!!! »? Are your retarded? This happens because the fans ramp up their speed, their workload is much higher than what it needed to be. On the other games, the temperature keeps the same as in idle. Obviously, if the fan speed was the same, on idle the temperature would be higher than when playing videogames, you understand less about computers than I do xD

AMD Ryzen Master.
I was quite scared when I saw such high temperatures on idle, but it works fine while playing videogames, even when I stay hours and hours playing.

When I play less demanding video-games, the temperature actually goes down.
And while I'm playing more demanding games, the temperature remains steady.

AMD Ryzen Master.
Just try with HWMonitor to confirm, I'm sure it will be the same, just worth checking with readings like that.

Well, now my temperature is actually only at 49-52 degrees.
I don't know what's going on, maybe on the first days the CPU was hotter because of the things I was installing.

Still...It was kinda shocking that the temperature was so high without doing anything very demanding, and the temperatures were going down when I played cs:go and LoL.

That’s much more like it. You need to check cpu usage when reading temps to make sure it’s idle. There’s always system stuff going on in the background like indexing and updates which would t be classed as idle load as CPU load would be over 10% or so.
