This is certainly better than releasing dud cpus but what on earth is going on in PC space at the moment???? This is just being called a week from launch!

Delayed to August 15th which happens to coincide with Intels Microcode update.

They're being over-cautious IMO. It's a very good time to be over-cautious though as any negative press would take the heat off of Intel and they want to avoid that at all costs.

So turns out the 9700x and 9600x are releasing July 8th, with the 9900x and 9950x coming the week after on the 15th.

I'm pleased they're putting out the mainstream models first, that's good for consumers as they will be far wider adopted.

This might be slightly cynical and unfair of me but I have a feeling that AMD would have let this slide if it wasn't for the world of hurt that Intel were in.

In any other climate I think the PR damage would have been minimal and weighing it up with a delay would be the lesser of 2 evils (perhaps a little exchange of the initial parts, easy fix).

With the climate as it is in the CPU market at the moment though it's absolutely the right thing they have done.

I'm actually glad this has happened then. Perhaps it'll bring about some coherent naming conventions instead of the insanely complicated labelling they have across different products. The mobile chips are so confusing.
