RTX5090 supply and scalper concerns

Hi all,

Happy Sunday!

PCS have confirmed they'll have the RTX5090 on launch day on the 30th. I'm looking to get a new build with that card on that day but I've been really spooked by discussions online about "scalpers" and the lack of supply of the card.

Am I safer in this regard knowing that PCS only sell components as part of custom builds and do not sell individual components?

I'm needing this build for work and would hate to miss out because of people buying and re-selling these cards...

Would love to hear from anyone with more experience, maybe what happened when the 4090 and the 3090 released?

Cheers

I had to wait over a month when the 3080 was released. I didn't put that down to scalpers though, just stock going quickly due to orders being high. As far as I know it's first come, first served.

Don’t worry.

PCS have supply contracts with the component manufacturers, so will sell them for whatever price they have calculated gives hem a little profit.

Supply might be tight initially, but it won’t affect the price…unless PCS suppliers decide to increase the price…but if you’ve ordered at a certain price you will not pay anything more unless you switch brands to try and speed up an order.

Thanks for the reply. Was that on launch day, were you waiting all day refreshing your browser type of thing?

Ok that's good to know, thanks Tony.
Hopefully I'll be able to get one in my build on the release date. I need to stop browsing PC subreddits, it's too stressful!

Scalpers only affect reseller markets, not OEMs, OEMs have direct supply contracts with official distributors, so price isn’t impacted like on eBay or elsewhere
