RTX 2080 fans revving up all of a sudden.

Dear all,
On of the fans on my graphic card (RTX 2080) started acting up about a month ago.

For some reason, as soon as the GPU temperature reaches 78°, the fan starts spinning at full speed (3680 rpm) and makes a lot of noise. I don't understand why (see picture in attachment) . I'm no expert n the filed, but 78°C doesn't seem terrible as far as high end GPU temperatures go.

This is very annoying as I spent quite a lot of money on this desktop computer to make as quiet as possible.

Before you ask, my graphic card drivers are up to date.

How can I fix this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Often the built in fan profiles are quite agressive to keep cooling down as much as possible.

You can set a custom fan profile with MSI Afterburner:

I installed AFTERBURNER but it didn't make any difference. I tested different fan speed curves but to no avail. As soon as my GPU hits the 78°C temperature mark, one of the fans immediately goes into jet turbine mode. (see the screenshot in attachment).

What's also strange here is that only the tachometer registers an increase in fan speed. The "fan speed in %"graph doesn't change.

I must also insist that everything was fine for almost a year. This problem is recent. I'm not the only one who's having this issue. Other users have also noticed an absurd increase in fan speed when reaching the exact same temperature mark (78°) --> https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=322601.0

in that case I’d raise it with PCS, sounds like that card may have an issue.
