does anyone have any experience with the total war series? and have any idea how CPU/GPU intensive Rome 2 is likely to be?

I'd guess pretty cpu and gpu heavy.

I'd go I5 3550k 8gig ram, gtx 670 or higher, or 7950 or higher...

I was thinking for a laptop! cant decide between the cheaper optimus 4 with i5-3230m and gtx660m or vortex 3 with i7-3630QM and 7970m but for an alot higher price

well, I would suggest atleast a quad core and the strongest gpu you can afford. But that's easy for me to say, it depends on how much you are willing spend.
