Review models

So...as I vacillate between yes and no for the Recoil II, I notice there are a fair few review builds for sale that look like they have some juicy discounts.

Out of interest...whilst I appreciate that the hardware is as-seen, what about the models that list Windows 10...is it possible to drop this, and drop the price by the cost of the OS as well?

I have my own licenses.

Not that I'm fully in the "yes" camp yet, but per my last discussion my option to give my Defiance to my son and buy the Recoil for myself is making more and more sense. Well, in my head it is :)

In most cases, extra peripherals and software, warranty and delivery options can be changed in review builds - it's just the internal hardware that cannot be changed - I just checked out the the MAGMA-RTX and it will let you change to no OS (and it dropped the price by 85quid) - obviously I haven't actually ordered it to test the theory :)

Oh go on...

Thanks..never went through that far. Didn't think it'd take you through to a build, just an order page :)

You can remove the OS from review models, just scroll down their configurators :)

My 'pick' of the recoils is the Bit-Tech version as it's £1279 with a 970 Pro. So better and cheaper than the HWUpgrade.it spec. And better for the same price as the TechTechGB spec
The Kitguru one is a decent spec for £130 less, with a smaller and not as fast SSD
The Geeknetic.es spec is very similar to the Kitguru spec but £80 more for a 144hz screen.

Edit: Jeez, thread got dogpiled while I was checking the specs. Ignore anything I say that was covered better above...

You read my mind and beat me to the next question.

I don't see any benefit of a 144Hz screen for me, to be honest. Although I like the odd FPS, I am far from a hardcore or regular gamer (and my fallback game tends to be Portal 2...so hardly cutting edge). But I will occasionally shell out on a new title, so even without the screen it is nice to grab something that is still reasonably powerful.

Still having the internal argument with myself at the moment. :)
