Recommend wireless headphones for elderly hard of hearing person pls

Hi Folks. Requirement is for TV-watching following complaint by a neighbour that his TV is too loud which has worried him. Approx age 70 and still with it but wouldn't want to be bothered with anything complex (after initial installation). Has anyone tried to resolve similar issue?

I'm guessing that these might be relevant questions:

1 Are any brands more suited to speech since musical nuances (top/bass) are unnecessary?
2 How easy are they to tune in, and do they stay tuned in?
3 Would he still hear the doorbell or phone?
4 Is the remote simple to use?
5 Are they comfortable for several hours' wear?
6 What would be the sort of price range to expect?

Maybe an alternative might be wireless speakers that he could move closer (so to reduce volume) and away from open windows or adjoining walls.

All hints gratefully received on what to buy or look for, or conversely what to avoid.

Many thanks.

Hi Mautal

I'll see what of this I can answer for you

1 Are any brands more suited to speech since musical nuances (top/bass) are unnecessary?
Not really, there are brands with clearer speech but not really and emphasis on it.
2 How easy are they to tune in, and do they stay tuned in?
Normally they are very easy to tune! Some use Radio Frequency where you scroll to the right station, others use bluetooth in which once paired always work.
3 Would he still hear the doorbell or phone?
You can get open back headphones where exterior noises can be heard but again it would depend how loud the headphones were. It may be they wouldnt be able to hear
4 Is the remote simple to use?
Many of the headphones do not come with remotes! Volume is controlled directly on one of the earpieces.
5 Are they comfortable for several hours' wear?
This varies......I have found it is down to cost. The more expensive the more comfortable.
6 What would be the sort of price range to expect?
Anything for £40 of to £349.

Hi Insignia. Many thanks indeed for the helpful info :) I'm not up on bluetooth which looks like it'd be better for him than RF, but I see there's a live chat facility on the link you helpfully provided.

I'll see what sort of TV set-up he has, i.e. via aerial or tuner box, to start with and can go from there with your info.
Thanks again.
