Recoil 2 RTX - Screen light low + strange noises

Hello folks,

I bought my Recoil 2 RTX about one year ago.
I was playing a game yesterday (CPU+GPU at full load) and my laptop screen suddenly dropped in brightness. I checked the windows settings, it still said "100%". When I play with the slider increasing it from 0 upwards it first gets brighter and at 40 or 50 (really depends) drops in brightness again.

Also I hear a strange noise from the laptop, the frequency depends on the brightness I have set. I have already reinstalled Nvidia drivers and Control Center.

Any other ideas besides contacting support?

Best to contact support directly, the sound you're hearing could be elctrical arching which would make sense given the symptoms of the dimming screen.

If you can in the meantime, take a video when it next happens and show them it, they'll know exactly what the issue is.

Alright, I contacted support and submitted a video. My gut feeling tells me it's a hardware issue and I am gonna have to RMA it.

Yeah, I think you're right, I'm guessing the backlight inverter is arching with another component which needs the screen swapping out as it's very likely to fail sooner rather than later.
