Really struggling

Hi,

This is now my 3rd post in this forum this year. The various opinions and ideas I receive make buying the PC so hard because I want the best for my money (obviously).

So, I'm brand new to PC gaming and don't have a clue about specs and all that jazz. However, I have always wanted a PC and thought now is the time to buy one.

I play mainly FPS games like COD, Fortnite and R6Siege. I also play campaign games like Assassins Creed when the other ones anger me. My budget is around £1,300 give or take.

I love the RGB look and it would look great to have that in my room. I could do with a monitor, keyboard and mouse being within in the budget (though I can work around not having them in there if it would help).

Could somebody PLEASE create the absolute best PC they can within my requirements. If any more information is needed, please do ask.

Thank you in advance!

1080p 144hz monitor which is the go-to for competitive shooters though will do fine in other games too
Good midrange CPU and powerful GPU.
RGB + RGB
16gb fast RAM, and an SSD large enough for some favourite games.
Good quality PSU, with scope for future upgrades.
The K500 is the cheapest RGB case I'd go for tbh, some of the cheaper ones don't save much money but do have drawbacks.
Entry level KB+Mouse - but with a £1300 budget you don't want to spend £300 on Razer Cash-Adder gear. You can always buy pointlessly expensive peripherals as a future upgrade :D

Had this built for me from one of the mods (which I’m immensely grateful for). However, just after 2nd opinions on the build before I click the purchase button. What do you guys think?

Thanks very much. Is there potential for a better monitor elsewhere or would you stick with the one selected? Cheers again!

It's all limited by budget, of course there are better options, but within budget constraints, that would be an optimal choice.

If it were me, I'd save up a little more to afford a 1440p 144Hz freesync monitor. 1080p is really a dead format in regards to PC gaming, most modern GPU's are aimed at 1440p. The monitor will be your bottleneck in future upgrades. IMHO, it's worth shelling out a bit more and making the step to 1440p now.

There are some good suggestions here:

But this one at £250 on Amazon is just an absolute bargain!

Thanks a lot, I’ll have a look around. I’m absolutely terrified to actually buy the PC because there are so many different opinions. Wish I could just press purchase haha!

The PC that @Oussebon has specced is a really solid spec, it gives plenty of headspace for future upgrades, and is more than powerful enough for 1440p already. I wouldn't change the build at all (except for removing the monitor). Oussebon is a bit of a legend at configurations, he really nails down builds to maximise power vs budget.

Tbh, he’s been absolutely great with me previously. I can’t thank him enough for going through the effort of building me a PC. It is literally just down to my lack of knowledge and my lack of guts that is stopping me from buying one. Thank you again, both of you.

Welcome. If you get the time, when you receive it, take some photo's and make a little review once you've had time to play with it.

@cleggy22 I'd agree with @SpyderTracks that 1440p 144hz is ideal. If you're a competitive PVP shooter player, perhaps 1080p still makes sense since the lower resolution (less detailed image) means higher framerates.

Though it's not like you can't get decent framerates at 1440p in those games with the PC I linked, or like you can't just run games at 1080p on the 1440p monitor by changing the setting yourself (not ideal, but possible).

The cheapest 1440p 144hz monitor I know of is the EG 27" (EG, Element Gaming) . Which is £220 and so only a tenner more than the 1080p 144hz one I put in your spec. PCS don't sell it but you can google / find it in the Monitors Guide I did.

And if you had ~£300-400 for the monitor, there would be a whole legion of higher end options too.

If you want other 1080p 144hz options, there's a page for that in the monitors guide too. :)

Also, used GPUs, no warranty in most cases, great suggestion.

If someone wants to gamble, they're welcome to, but buying a ~£400 part with no warranty is no something I'm going to recommend.

Completely agree with this, second hand PC parts are not a good idea generally.
