So the prices are pretty similar but there are a few pros and cons to each as in..

The Defiance is new and may be delayed due to unforeseen problems. It also only has 3gb VRAM compared to 6GB on the vortex. The Defiance has a 3k screen, the Vortex is 1080p. The wireless cards are different but that shouldn't make much of a difference? Also I'll be adding 8gb RAM myself when I get around to it so whichever one I choose will have 16gb.

I just can't make my mind up, I need some input and if I've missed anything then let me know please!

Thanks guys :)

Jeez, I'm so indecisive.. I'm worrying now that I'm going way overboard with these rigs. Basically I use my laptop as a TV, I do uni work and I want to get back into gaming. I'm not bothered about playing games on ultra, mid to high is fine and I want to be able to play games such as the new Assassins Creed, Batman Arkham Knight, Shadow of Mordor, FIFA 15 etc and I want to be able to play similar kinds of games for the next 2-3 years..

So with this information am I overdoing it, would I be better off with an GTX 880m?

mrducking

Bright Spark
gtx880m is only 5 euros less than the gtx970m, so better to get the 970m as it is slightly better
also, even though the vortex is more bulkier, the defiance has cpu and gpu soldered to the motherboard, which is something to consider

That's true, thanks mate.

Ok, so last question.. To help future proof should I go with the Defiance and its 3k screen or the Vortex with its 6gb VRAM 970m? What will be more important over the next few years?

Cheers again :)

Oh and I should add that I don't mind that the CPU and GPU are soldered as I won't upgrade them :)
