Random Files in drive

Hi, laptop arrived so far so good. However I’ve seen some people get to the cpu temps voltage etc from an app from the desktop. Can’t seem to see it anywhere?

Also I’ve attached an image to this post (hopefully) they were in one of the ssd drives? Anyone know what they are or can they be deleted without any consequences?

I can't see any image.

The app will be Clevo Control Centre

If you can't find it searching the start menu/cortana or in program files folders, you can get it from the downloads section of your main PCS account.

they are both folders:

_SMSTaskSequence

and

MININT

Those two folders are created by the tool that PCS will have used to install your Windows system (SCCM) and they should have been deleted after SCCM completed properly. You can delete them because they are no longer needed but I'd be a little concerned as to why they weren't deleted by SCCM.

If it were mine I'd do a clean reinstall to be sure, or you could call PCS and ask their advice.

I agree entirely with Ubuysa. It sounds on the face of it that the automatic build steps didn't fully complete.

It shouldn't affect things like drivers as they go on very early in an SCCM build but I'd still, for peace of mind, do a manual rebuild.

I think under the circumstances you should phone PCS.

To be honest I’m more annoyed about the screen-it’s really poorly made.it bleeds light from the bottom and there’s like a white dot on the bottom right of the screen. Compared to my old Alienware laptop this feels really cheap. Example if I sat in the garden in a windy day. I wouldn’t be surprised if the wind shuts the laptop??

Zoom in into the screen image to see the white dot.

The chassis's build quality or robustness is down to Clevo, who make the chassis PCS and most other custom laptop sellers use.

The dot could be a dead pixel. Did you get the dead pixel guarantee? Either way, talk to PCS about it, as they've been known to replace screens even outside of the dead pixel guaranee. Dead pixels are basically 'normal' in that manufacturers are actually allowed a certain number, depending on the kind of pixel and where it is on the screen... yes, this sucks.. unfortunately it's not limited to PCS.

I'm currently looking to buy a monitor upgrade, but will basically only buy from certain stores that have extremely generous returns policies, or that themselves offer dead pixel guarantees.

IPS glow, or edge bleed, are common on IPS monitors (bleed can be on TN too). Sometimes it's exacerbated by the frame 'pinching' the panel too much and can be improved by loosening it.

As above, your best option is to talk to PCS...

I’ll be honest. PC Specialist have been great! Especially when u consider how many amendments I’ve made.
(Seriously I’m a fussy customer) I’ve had no issues with them.

I’ve also just figured out what the white dot is. It’s the line on the taskbar. Lol I have task bar set to auto hide. I only figured it out after looking at my Alienware.
