I want to upgrade the RAM to 16gb or 32gb. I see from my build that I have 2 x 4GBs at the moment totalling 8gb.

What options do I have to upgrade? if I have 2 x 4gb's at the moment I assume I have 2 slots of RAM. How many slots of RAM can my machine take? If I add more RAM, can they be different to my current for example have 2 x 4gbs and 1 x 8gb as well?

I am also looking at adding more internal storage. What options do I have?

Kind regards
Steven

What is the machine for?
If gaming, then generally its going to be 16Gb RAM
The maximum amount of RAM is determined by your motherboard if you look at the specs for that, but it will normally be far far higher then actually needed.

Using two sticks is also the best way to do it, so a matching pair of 8Gb each

It will be used for gaming and ideally twitch streaming so I am thinking more than 16gb.

I have looked but I am struggling to understand how many slots my motherboard has.

What would be the disadvantage of keeping my 2 x 4gb and then having 1 x 16gb = 24 in total over 3 slots rather than say 2 x x rams to get the similar results?

Im not buying it from here, but through google searches I have found this.

Would this be compatible with my motherboard and do the job?

There is cheaper ones on there too that are 3200 buy 4 x 8gb instead which saves like £50 overall.

Whats the advantages?

Go into your pcs account and look at upgrade options, it may be available there.
Should also be able to see exactly which motherboard so you can google its specs
and 2 is better than 4 for performance, works best with 2 sticks in so look for pairs not sets of 4.

Ok - I took your advice and looked at the upgrade section in my account.

When I click RAM - it is only giving me options for 2400 and 2666mhz although my original purchase was a 3000mhz option.

Is this simply due to stock availability or is there a reason it is not giving me a higher option?

Have a look at what motherboard you have and look it up.
Might be 3000Mhz was its limit and you got it at the time, and it only shows alternatives as its "upgrading"?
Not sure

Scrap that, I looked at the above spec and googled it, says up to 3866Mhz on its vendor page

Guess it depends on how deep your pockets are 🤣 , are you after some flashy RGB stuff? As you've found your MB has four slots, but the general advice is to use 2 slots if possible (if my memory serves). 32GB 3666mhz is a bit pricey

I believe I found the motherboard spec online.

Would this be the same one?

If so, it seems to take up to 3866mhz. Am I reading that correctly?

Strange I dont have any offers on the upgrade
I would give PCS a call, it may be a bug on the upgrade site. The board definitely supports higher RAM as you know, so yep, definitely give them a call.
