RAM Speed in Bios?

Was just having a poke around in the Bios (ASUS® M5A99X EVO) And it states that my RAM (8GB KINGSTON HYPER-X GENESIS DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz) Is running at around 1200Mhz. I changed it and hit f10 (save and reboot), then loaded up the bios again and it is still at roughly 1200Mhz.

Whats with that? Any suggestions?

Simon.

on my mobo, in bios, go advanced, find ai overclock tuner menu, then ai overclock tuner, set it to XMP then it will run at 1600mhz.

xtreme memory profile it allows for higher ram speeds it should be somewhere hidden within the jargon in your bios but as tom said if you enable this your ram should run at higher speeds but its not really needed unless your cpu is overclocked.

Ok I went into the Bios and did what you said, turns out its set to run at 1600Mhz, yet in the first page of the bios in advanced settings it still says its at 1266Mhz. Does that mean its actually running at 1600Mhz then?
