RAM question on my new PC.

I've had my PC a week now, everything is running amazingly - however, the bios is reading my ram as 16GB at 1333mhz instead of the 1600mhz that's installed.

My motherboard's ram stats say 4 x DIMM, Max. 32GB, DDR3 2200(O.C.)/1866(O.C.)/1600/1333 MHz, meaning the 1600mhz option isn't overclocking?

I know I can manually go in & just switch to 1600 frequency with 1 mouse click, is this what I should do?

I don't want to change anything around in the bios willy-nilly, but my ram isn't 1333mhz it's 1600, and the mobo says 1600 ram isn't overclocking, making me think it's a standard option which poses no risk?

Edit: I just checked in the dimm setting & it says 1333mhz ram running at 1333mhz, and if it's set to 1600 it says 1333mhz running at 1600mhz?

Sounds like your motherboard needs it's X.M.P setting to be set in the bios.

You should be able to go into the motherboard's bios, go to the overclocking page and select the memory profile to X.M.P. Save that and it should set your RAM to the right speed.

It was set to auto, so i've switched it to X.M.P & it did indeed put it at 1600 mhz now.
This doesn't pose any instability issues with my system, or invalidate my warranty in anyway, right?
I shouldn't imagine it should, but would like to make sure - seemed abit silly to buy 1600 & have it run at 1333 if I didn't need to.

Yes, it does mean extreme memory profile, M3aaaq.

This must have either been our mistake for not setting it for you, or the cmos has been reset since it was built. Setting it to X.M.P is perfectly normal and should not cause any stability issues. It is simply telling the board that you have some 1600Mhz memory installed. Does not affect warranty as we usually set this before sending out.

Glad you got it sorted :)
