Hi! I’m looking for advice on a computer configuration. It’s not for gaming — it‘ll be used mainly for development with lots of Docker containers.
2. Power Supply
Based on my configuration, a 550W PSU should be enough, but I can’t find an ultra-quiet option at that wattage. I also couldn’t find clear information on how loud the CORSAIR 550W CX SERIES™ is. Would it be reasonable to go with this one, or would it make sense to get the ultra-quiet 650W instead? Or would the fan noise from the case still be louder anyway? Also, I’m curious about energy efficiency — if the 650W ultra-quiet is more efficient than the 550W, it might pay off in the long run.
3. Other Suggestions
If you have any tips or see anything to improve in this configuration, I’d be happy to hear them!

The main issue is choosing the right RAM. I initially picked the ASUS® PRIME Z890-P WIFI (LGA1851, DDR5, M.2 PCIe 5.0, Wi-Fi 7) motherboard and 64GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE 6000MHz (2x32GB CL40) RAM, but I got a message saying the memory isn’t compatible with ASUS motherboards. That RAM isn’t available now, so I can’t buy it anyway. Now I’m considering three options:
- (a) Get a Gigabyte motherboard that supports the RAM I wanted. But I have doubts since it doesn’t have an HDMI port.
- (b) Buy 48GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR5 5600MHz CL40 (2 x 24GB). It should be enough, but RAM has a tendency to become insufficient sooner than expected
- (c) Go with 64GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR5 5600MHz CL40 (2 x 32GB). However, I’m a bit confused because the 48GB option is labeled as a KIT, but the 64GB isn’t. Does that mean the 64GB isn’t a kit, just two separate modules that weren’t tested together?
