Ram issue

Hi chappies, another one to pick your brains on.
This is juicy two parter so without further ado.....

The Pc crashed earlier and after restarting it would not boot. It had the Q code error of 55 so I had a fiddle about with the RAM. it seems that each stick is fine, all sockets are fine but it will not boot if I put both sticks in. The sockets are colour coded so I'm not being daft and putting them in the wrong slots.
The PC will boot with only one stick in which leads on to chapter two.
Once the pic comes on it will not recognise a keyboard at all once windows is bootedl. I have to log in using the onscreen keyboard. I have emailed myself the drivers (as I cannot type in to search) but this does not work. I can access the bios so I know the keyboard isn't broken.

Halp me forum community, you're my only hope......well, before an RMA

Do you get any beeps when booting with the 2 sticks installed? I can only assume its a motherboard problem if you can boot with any stick in any slot but not 2. Have you tried setting everything to default in the BIOS? I do fear a sudden motherboard failure though as that tends to be the only result when a system dies mid flow and won't work in a scenario such as yours.

Not a peep. The monitor stays in standby so it doesn't seem like it gets very far.
I thought a mobo fault could be to blame as it happened so suddenly. I have cleared the BIOS but it makes no difference, support ticket time methinks
