Raid 0 Drive compatibility

Hi Everyone - I have a quote saved, the drive set up I'm after is a a first SSD for the windows installation, and a separate pair of identical SSDs for Staeam / game installation, and separate big spinny for storage:

1st M.2 SSD Drive
1TB SAMSUNG 990 PRO M.2, PCIe 4.0 NVMe (up to 7450MB/R, 6900MB/W)
1st M.2 SSD Drive
2TB SAMSUNG 990 EVO M.2, PCIe 4.0 & 5.0 NVMe (up to 5000MB/R, 4200MB/W)
1st M.2 SSD Drive
2TB SAMSUNG 990 EVO M.2, PCIe 4.0 & 5.0 NVMe (up to 5000MB/R, 4200MB/W)
1st Storage Drive
4TB SEAGATE BARRACUDA SATA-III 3.5" HDD, 6GB/s, 5400RPM, 256MB CACHE

When I try to apply the Raid option, I get a compatibility warning and it won't let me save it. It says that the either drives 1 and 2 OR drives 2 and 3 OR drives 3 and 4 need to be identical - here 2 and 3 satisfy that so I don't see what the problem is! I don't want to have the OS installed on the same drive as the games so haven't selected identical drives on 1 and 2.

Any thoughts appreciated

thanks

Ben

Firstly, why do you need RAID for the games drive? What purpose are you trying to achieve?

You also wouldn't want to spec those drives, they're prone to failure and expensive, other options are better endurance and much faster too.

If you can post the full specs we can offer some advice with the answers @Ekans2011 has outlined

Thanks - on the raid I've found it gave a performance boost with older sim games (TS Classic) compared to MSFS or TS World, but if its marginal then I appreciate the advice.

I've swapped out the Samsung drives if they're not the best.

Spec here, your input would be appreciated

Here's what I'd change in the above specification:

1) RAM - 2x16GB Corsair Vengeance RGB 6000MHz CL30 - AM5 sweetspot frequency; any reason for 64GB? 32GB is more than enough for gaming, unless you want to play heavily modded games or MSFS.

2) GPU - 9070XT - Much better value than the 5070ti, but with similar performance.

3) PSU - 1000W RMx ATX3.1 - This is a solid choice for this level of build; 850W may suffice, but it won't leave enough room for further upgrades.

4) Cooler - Corsair Nautilus 240 RS - The minimum AIO for a 7800X3D; no suitable air coolers are available from PCS.

Remove the extra fans and sound card.

Thanks, Really appreciate your input.
If you can answer the questions raised, then we can offer far better advice

You've just ignored the information that's been requested, without that we're really unable to offer any help

RAID isn't going to help for your uses in any way. The speed of these drives far outperforms how a game can keep up, even an RTS, the drive would still be limited to around 3500mbs in games

And a game doesn’t run from the drive anyway, it’s all pre loaded into RAM at the beginning of a level, the rest is run from RAM through CPU / GPU, the only thing it would help with would be loading times, but even then would be capped to around 3500mbs.
