Tributes are being paid to veteran broadcaster Steve Wright following his death at the age of 69. The DJ was last on air in a pre-recorded Valentine's special on Sunday, just weeks after being made an MBE for services to radio.

This is really sad, he just did a show the other night, this was very sudden and unexpected.

Steve has been a huge presence in my life since I was a teenager. We regularly used to listen to his afternoon shows and he presented top of the pops back in the day.

But even up to these days I’d often have him on in the car if I was out and about when he was on.

Very sad.
