Question on compatibility

Hi guys, just a quick question. I've put my order in all ready but wondered if PCS would contact me if anything wasn't compatible with each other? Thanks

They will but the configurator wouldn't allow you to choose components that are not compatible with each other.

Ok cool, it's just for instance the RAM (Hyper x beast) apparently that can some times stop the fan being installed etc due to the size of the card, that's all i worry about and then having things changed without me knowing

They will let you know, don't worry.

Sometimes certain components might prevent a case fan from being installed on the side of the case, normally this will not prove to be an issue however because your PC will still be adequately cooled without it :). If you're concerned you could post your proposed spec or give PCS a call to discuss your spec and they'll tell you if anything will clash.

Fair enough, I hope the side fan is installed as that was part of the reason i went for it (aesthetic reasons) I have a feeling it might not be installed though with the corsair H60 but not too sure. I've also heard the Corsair H60 is supposed to be really loud, hope this isn't the case for me

Are there other cases I could go for that are still nice aesthetically and have good cooling for around the same kind of £60 price? I may try get this changed if it won't be installed...

Why do you think the H60 might stop you from having a side fan? Its not a particularly big cooler, the rad is only 120 wide.

If you are worried about the noise, you could go for an air cooled solution, or a H80i (better fans I think). If you post your specs someone might be able to help.

I don't know, but i'm sure the guy I spoke to on the phone before said the H40 would be fine, but the H60 upwards would prevent the side fan from being installed, but not 100 % sure. That might be an idea going for the H80i to be honest, before that thought I really want to find out if the side fan can be installed, luckily my order is still processing so in a worse case scenario things could hopefully still be changed. Any advice appreciated....

Any reason you've gone for an overclocked PC?

You can always change your case if your budget allows it? If you get a slightly bigger case then the side fans (etc.) would not have to come off.

Gone for over clocked as wanted to get a bit of extra performance out the chip, as well as wanting to go for the most up to date Haswell socket, with future up grad ability in mind. I would change the case but don't have the money for anything much more expensive than the Maelstrom. Do you have any suggestions? I'm also now considering the H80i, i've heard it's a better cooler and you can also monitor temps which I like. I do really like the Maelstrom case, both aesthetically and cooling wise, but the blue LED was a big draw for me, though non performance related

Same as with your previous thread overclocking is not needed for gaming, If I were you I rather get a better case than worry about overclocking. Your motherboard supports SLI but I don't think a 650w PSU will be enough for 2x gtx 760

What's the PC for? For gaming, you'll see no benefit from overclocking.

When you say upgradeability what do you have in mind?

Well to be honest, its unlikely you'd need the h60/h80i if you were not overclocking and air cooling would suffice, this would likely mean you could keep the side fan :)

EDIT: As Keynes said, basically, no point in getting the overclock. That might give you enough cash to get a larger case :)

I'm using it for all sorts, not just gaming, but college work, which will include anything from simple documents to video work, and will also be browsing the internet etc. I had a long and hard think between the 3570k and 4670k, but went for the 4670k after hearing it was using the latest chip set and would be easier to upgrade in the future. I'm now thinking of downgrading but it really didn't cost me all that much more, I want a system that i'm not gonna have to touch for at least a good few years and still be able to play the latest games for at least the next few years to come again.

It won't even allow me to downgrade my CPU now anyway when amending my order, so don't know a way around that? @ Keynes and @ steaky, give me a spec then you think would be sufficient in playing the latest games for the next few years minimum and be good for general use, thanks. What i will say is though i am happy overall with what I have

i5 4670k high temps? Corsair h80i vs h100i?

Hi guys, I have seen the i5 4670k is quite a hot processor, even at stock speeds and wondered if people thought my pc could potentially get too hot, seeing as I've bought it all ready overclocked to 4.2ghz. I know my case has good cooling (Maelstrom) and also wondered if it might be worth paying £20 extra to upgrade from the h80i to the h100i to give my components more longevity, or will the h80i cool the components sufficiently and keep the temps at a decent level? Thanks

It is likely the H80i will cool your CPU (it only cools the CPU) sufficiently. But if you have the space in your case and the cash then it could be worth considering. The H100i is an excellent cooler, maybe a tad overkill but worth it.

Have you received your PC yet? Or is it still in building.

Hi I'm no gamer, I do photo/vid/music editing. I change components on the config & it would say if things are incompatible-if you are still unsure contact pcs. They are brill. I have a large concern re my nxt laptop as I know it will be the last large expense on tech I will do. So I needed to know I could upgrade RAM etc in the future.
You are in good hands GoldenBen :D

Ok fair enough and its just been moved to the pre production stage (4th working day currently)

I've not seen any other cases I like to be honest. Read reviews of cases more expensive than the maelstrom and the cooling wasn't as good as it is in the maelstrom, so for that alone I think i'll stick with the one I have (not too fussed about the blue LED now either)

Are there any cases you would suggest personally? Thanks
