PS2 combo socket works for keyboard not mouse

Hi everyone,
I am trying to use my repair disc on windows 7 because sfc /scannow tells me that the pc has corrupt files.
To do this, I need to use the ps2 combo socket for the keyboard and mouse.
I am using a ps2 splitter cable for keyboard and mouse but only the keyboard is recognised.
Motherboard: ASUS® P8Z77-V

Help me ! !

Before you try the repair disk try the following...

If your sfc /scannow reported errors found and corrected then all is now well and you need do nothing.

If sfc /scannow reported errors that could not be fixed you may need to rebuild your component store with dism, execute the following (elevated) command...

dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth - if that reports no component store corruption detected AND your sfc /scannow fails then you're looking at a resinstall.

If the dism ... /scanhealth reports component store errors found then that's why the sfc /scannow failed to repair the windows system files, in that case run the following dism command...

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth - if that reports errors that could not be corrected you're looking at a reinstall. If it reports errors found and corrected then run the sfc /scannow again, it should fix any errors found.

Thank you Ubuysa,

sfc /scannow detected errors but couldn't fix them.

I will give your advice a try tomorrow.

Thank you again.
