Finally, after waiting 19 days for the Proteus to arrive it is finally here.
Good Points -
-First off, the Laptop looks beautiful. The brushed aluminium lid really does give the laptop a more premium feel.
-The RGB keyboard feels great when typing and has good feedback to it.
-Boot times are insanely fast on the WD black SSD, couldn't be happier with this.
-Gaming performance is great, although I haven't tested it on any AAA titles yet as I'm waiting for BF V to arrive it has performed well when running World of Tanks on Ultra settings, averaging around 200fps.
-The RTX card seems to swallow up everything I have put it through so far, more testing to follow though.
Bad Points -
-The CPU gets hot... I mean real hot! I have experienced a load of spikes up to around 98C which is way way hotter than I would like. Throttling doesn't seem to be affecting the game performance but then neither does it seem to be affecting the temperatures either.
-The GPU gets up to around 82-83C which is not a bad as the CPU but still isn't great for the lifespan of the chip.
-There doesn't seem to be any control center installed for the touchpad and keyboard lighting. I was expecting some form of Quanta control centre but nothing is installed and I cant find any reference to one anywhere online.
-The touchpad sticks when using right mouse click. If I press the right mouse click and try to press the left side of the touchpad after it it tends to stick down into the chassis which is annoying during gaming, it is getting better but still not 100%.
-One of the two light strips along the front edge of the laptop doesn't appear to be working at all.
I have sent a couple of messages to PCS of which I am yet to receive a reply but I will give them a call later to see if there is anything that can be done. There may be fixes for the issues that I have experienced so far but if not then the laptop may be going back.
