Processor Selection

I am building an audio pc with the spec below but have read on another thread a post by Keynes that said

The i7-3770 will perform better than the i7-3820 for more cpu intensive applications.

Is there any explanation for this surely the i7-3820 is faster and with bigger cache. How does this equate to worse performance.

Any other advise on my spec is welcome.

Many Thanks

I am planning on using the following system for Audio production with a dual monitor setup, focusrite Scarlett 2i2 sound card and KRK rocket speakers. I would appreciate any comments or suggestions.

I would like to be able to upgrade to 64gb hence selecting the i7 extreme however based on this for audio production would you recommend the 3770 over the 3820. Still doesn't make any sense to me but thanks for the help

I am afraid I don't know what the requirements are for the software you are planning to use. Does the software benefit from 64gb memory ram? Seems like a lot but again I don't know the requirements.
