processor question

hi all , a quick question . i beleive that the graphics card is the most important for a pc for gaming but i was just curiouse as to what lvl of processor is required to be able to play games at a good standard. Basically what is the chapest processor you could go for to still play games at good quality , and what combo of proccesor and graphcs card would be a minimun requirement for good gaming. thanks

Really it depends on the resolution you game at and what games you want to play.

If you want to play battlefield 3 at 1080p with high settings then you'll need a GTX560Ti or above and an Intel i5 processor.

Those are about £300 on their own without the rest of the PC to go with it.

In comparison you can get a AMD Llano processor that has a low level graphics card built into it and it play most games at lower resolution on low settings, thats about £110 on its own.


Also depends on your budget, if oyu let us know what it is then i'm sure people will make something decent for you to buy.

Most people with A good priced Intel build go with i5 2500's and Gtx 560 ti's but an i5 is fine for any game apart from ones that May be more Cpu Intensive like Fsx but usually that's a rare case, the gpu is pretty much the Most Important thing on most games!

You wouldn't really see a performance boost with the Bulldozer against the Intel i5 2500 especially on Battfield 3!


I personally feel the Best cpu's for Gaming are quad core's anything over that is overpowered

My rig is by far no means high end, i'd say it's slap bang in the middle of an average rig, but i get a very smooth 30-35fps on BF3 with everything on Med settings.
