Problems with computer turning off

Okay today I was just playing a little bit of Starcraft 2, and out of nowhere my computer just turned itself off.
The computer should be able to handle everything, with more than enough fans, and water cooled cpu, but when I am trying to boot up now, I am getting an error saying CPU Over Temperature Error!! Press F1 to resume

push F1 to resume and within ~30 seconds it ends up just turning itself off

I can't even get it to stay on for very long - I have not touched any of the settings in BIOS because I dare not OC it.

had a quick check and this says something about the heatsink need removing - thermal paste applying and then reseated? can anyone confirm this? seems a bit of a fiddly job.
would rather not do it.
checked in the bios and seems the CPU temperature is at 86C
the MB temperature is only 26C

edit:
Managed to get into windows this morning.. although for not very long. downloaded CoreTemp app, and it reads the temps at around 80 when i first start, but rising to 101C.
What could be the cause of this? I ended up shutting down to not harm anything. I also had some install for my other harddrive.

Well as you were already using your PC, it's most likely that the cooler has come loose or is faulty - best thing you can do is open your case and have a look, see if the cooler is tightly secured (could've easily been knocked loose in transit).

Can you provide more nfo. How old is the pc. What cpu cooler do you have.
If is a coolit eco / domino, it sounds as though the pump may have failed.

The computer was ordered in july, so its pretty new. had a problem with the HDD dying so had to RMA that at first.
CPU cooler is a coolit ECO A.L.C, so the pump may have failed as you say.

so what next?

opened it up and checked if it was loose : its sitting in there nice and tight.

Yes, was there not an issue with this pump earlier on? A few failed? Ring PCS up on 0844 499 4000 Monday morning if you can and theyll talk you through a few quick tests, then itw ill be a case of an RMA if not and the pump would be replaced with the (I believe) newer version? Correct me if i'm wrong here Maestro.

It was the ECO's predecessor (the Domino) which has the issues, the ECO has been pretty solid (so far....). I'd give Tech Support though and get this fixed asap, I'd would advise against using the PC whilst the CPU is running at those temps.

This is sound advise, let us know how you get on.
