When I boot my PC, first it went to an error: No hard disk detected, then it will automatically restart, this time it will boot the OS.
I'm using SSD as my primary drive, I went to BIOS but it didnt appear my SSD on the option.
Is this usual? or I need to do something about it?

It sounds like you need to go into bios and set up AHC1 so that your system knows you are running an SSD drive.

Go into bios
Go to Sata Configuration and see if it is set up as AHC1.

However if you bought your PC with the SSD this should have been done!

Uness the compute ris overclocke dor something and the Bios failed to do this, then it would revert back to the default settings hence no AHC1, Happened to me on my Raid.

But as above go into bios and check. Dont worry if your not to sure on it you cant really break the bios unless you save changes. So if you had a fiddle and not sure if it's right just choose to exit and discard changes and come back here for help.

Within BIOS and boot options, please ensure that not only is the SSD at the head of the boot priority list but also the HDD boot priority list, usually on the same screen.

Check it when it starts, if the self test says something like Overclock Failed or something then it could be your bios not applying the overclock settings properly. Go into bios and double check all the settings.
It has been a while but i believe most bios' now have easy O.C profiles. PCS would have saved your overclock settings to one of these, so reload the profile. That should apply all the settings ot get the PC to boot properly. If not we can probably rule out the bios being the issue.

What motherboard are you using?

If it's the P6X58D Premium, that Marvell BIOS is out of date - updating the motherboard BIOS to 1201 or later will also update the Marvell BIOS. If it's another board, still check Asus support for a motherboard BIOS upgrade as it's the only way to update the Marvell BIOS.

There was a post on the Asus support forums a few weeks ago where someone was told by Asus's technical support that the Marvell connectors do not support boot drives though they work for some people but not others. I don't believe there's ever been an official statement to that effect but there are enough reports of people having the same problem as you to suggest that it's accurate.

If updating BIOS doesn't help, try attaching the SSD to one of the Intel headers. If you can install and boot from there, you'll know that the drive and install disk are fine and you can always try moving it back to the Marvell header once it's working.

It's worth mentioning that if your Marvell controller is the 88SE9123 (as it is on the Premium board) numerous tests have shown that there is absolutely no advantage over the same SATA 6GB drives used on the Intel SATA2 headers - it's actually a very sore point for owners - so although you'll be running at SATA2 speeds, you'lllose nothing in reality.

Looking on the Asus forums for that board, there are several posts from people whose drives don't show up. The solution involves a setting in the "Boot Override" menu in BIOS. I don't have that board but i believe that's a "hidden" sub-menu in the "Advanced" section of BIOS.

There's a new BOIS due out for that board in the next few days (final version 1253. Apparently, it was finalised last Thursday) so you might want to check that out to see what it is intended to fix.

I saw my SSD in the "Boot Override" menu but I can't set it to the auto boot options. I'm checking how to update my BIOS now

On an Asus board, use EZ-Flash from BIOS if it's available and a Fat formatted USB key to hold the BIOS file. It's the safest, most reliable method. Whatever you do, never use the Windows based update tool - it's unsafe and has caused a lot of problems.

Glad you got it sorted - even if it's not an ideal solution. I'd keep an eye on the Asus forum and updates - hopefully a firmware or driver update will get those ports working properly.

The call centre will have a general profile for that chip and will be able to talk you through tightening the timings from there.

Each machine is different so the settings could vary. The profile saved to the BIOS is generally the only copy of that specific setup.
