Problem with DVD/CD drive.

I purchased my PC in December and everything has been great until now. I am having problems with the DVD/CD drive. It seems unable to read certain discs, while it is quite happy with others. The discs that are unreadable work fine in my laptop.

Seems like a hardware issue, but is there anything I should try first before requesting a replacement ?

The drive shows up in deveice manager as a ATAPI iHAS124.

Edit: I really should read the stickys before posting. I will try the latest firmware.

I have updated the firmware, but unfortunately it made no difference.

4 newly purchased CD's, 3 of them completely unrecognised by the drive. The 4th was recognised but would not rip into itunes. All 4 discs work perfectly in laptop. Older CD's all seem fine

Tried a new DVD and old one. Both were fine. Tried an old game and the disc was readable. Don't have any new games discs to try as I have been using Steam. So as best I can tell it seems to be new audio CD's that are the problem.

Any suggestions ?

This one is beyond me! I'd request a replacement drive if I were you, you can log into the website and request an RMA Component or call/email Tech Support.
