Potential New Gaming PC

Hi,

I am looking at ordering a new gaming PC and wondered how this spec looks? The budget is about £1400 plus monitor (which isn't included in this quote)

The price for this is £1479.00 so a little over budget, where would be the best place to make savings?

Any advice on monitors would also be appreciated, I'm looking to spend max. about £150 and it doesn't need to be massive.

Thanks,

Tom

A standard (non k) CPU will be fine unless you are thinking about overclocking in fact for gaming an i5 CPU will be good enough, likewise you could drop to 8GB RAM. A lot depends on any other uses. There may be savings to be made on the cooling but others can comment on that, I am mainly a laptop user so not qualified to comment.

As Stephen M says, if you drop to the non-k variant of the chip, or i5 would be ample, then you can drop down to the tripple copper heatpipe cooler which would be ample.

Overclocking will bring zero performance increase for gaming, and no need for 16gb RAM, 8 GB will be ample.

Don't need the extra case fans.

Up the PSU to the 650W CS series which is modular and therefor improves airflow internally. Also better quality components.

Up to silver warranty for £5.

Great thanks for the quick responses,

I have made the changes as recommended and switched to the i5-4690. The price is now at £1290.00

Which cooler do you mean by the triple copper heatpipe cooler?

I have a choice between: Super Quiet Titan DragonFly Heatpipe Intel CPU Cooler (£19) and CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO (120mm) Fan CPU Cooler (£29), at the low price end, which would be the best option? I'm happy to spend a little more here if anyone thinks it would be worthwhile.

Thanks,

Tom
